Editor's Note

It’s been a busy past month for My Green Birmingham, and it’s been great to see so many fantastic green-minded events going on around town! Our first ever 7-day Plastic Challenge encouraged a community-wide reduction of everyday plastic use. We hope the challenge inspired you to make some positive changes of your own-small or large! If so, we’d still love to hear from you about your experience!

Earth week in Birmingham was jam packed with celebrations such as the annual Green Tie Affair , and the world-wide Picnic for the Planet, held at Railroad Park. Pepper Place kicked off the opening of the 2012 Farmers Market season here in the greater Birmingham area, and will be open Saturdays from 7 am – noon until December.  If you haven’t heard, Earth Fare is coming to Birmingham! The natural foods supermarket is set to open in Hoover this coming July, and is looking to hire a wide range of grocery store professionals. In the next few weeks, be sure to check back for upcoming articles about organic gardening-including tips from local experts, as well as a complete guide to Birmingham area Farmers Markets, and more!
